Tech & Gadgets: Our Top Picks of 2017 (so far)

As IT support professionals and experts, we have a lot of experience with technology and gadgets. Here are some of our picks for the best of 2017!

BOSE HEADPHONES

Bose Soundsport Headsets, everyone knows that BOSE is known for quality audio, but there are other things that are more important than superior sound when it comes to a wireless headset. For me, I sweat a lot and so earbuds not only get slippery, but they also want to slip out of my ears. Plus, sweat and humidity are normally not good for electronics so I was delighted to find this set of headphones that is designed for sports so they stay in your ear and are waterproof. But, that’s only part of the reason these headphones are so great. What really sets them apart is that they talk to you. When the headset is pairing a female voice says, “Connecting to Aragorn.” (Aragorn is the name of my iPhone). The connection happens almost instantly – something that I have never found with another bluetooth device.
I also love the sound of these headphones. I had wired BOSE headphones before this pair and they were really great, but, they lacked the depth of bass of these headphones. They are priced at $150, but, for the quality I think you will be hard-pressed to find something comparable.

I got mine as a gift and I think I’m in love. She may be old news to you, but for us, she just keeps getting better all the time.

Sometimes I’m so tired in the middle of the night I don’t want to open my eyes and look at my iPhone to see what time it is. I just ask Alexa. I ask her to do complex math and for the weather. I love asking her questions so much that I find myself just trying to think of stuff to ask her about. Alexa also integrates with apps and plays games, as soon as it is legal to marry electronics, I’m going to pop the question.

Robotic Lawn Mowers

Yaas! After moving into a house this summer after living in various apartments for 7 years I had to mow again. It’s hot. It’s dirty. It’s time consuming. I don’t like it.
I was lamenting the fact that I had to mow and I said, “They need to make Roomba type lawnmower.” My friend responded, “It’s already a thing.” Of course I had to Google it and BAM! How awesome is that!

The only downside I can think of is that it seems like they could be easily stolen, even though I’m sure they probably have built in GPS tracking. And the cost right now is around $2000, but to me that’s a small price to pay to not have to mow the lawn all the time.
